Senator Barker wants to ensure that our communities meet our needs and allow us to maintain a high quality of life. He is working with the General Assembly and local officials to promote policies that keep our communities safe and enjoyable places to live.

Senator Barker is aware that some of our communities are encountering difficulties enforcing the laws that help to make our communities clean and safe. He was able to get two bills passed this year to help our counties quickly and effectively address zoning violations such as illegal boarding houses. Barker also sponsored legislation to require public contractors to verify the legal status of their employees and supported a law that denies bail to illegal immigrants who are charged with felonies. George supports sensible legislation that protects our communities and opposes racial profiling and other actions that harm legal residents.
